Masterplanning

Greenheart


Across the borough of Wigan, Greenheart aims to connect areas of open space, parks, canal towpaths, woodlands, and wetlands to provide a diverse and rich natural environment for people and wildlife. Delivered over a number of years by a range of organisations the aim is create a new regional park.

Undertaken whilst employed at Groundwork, works and services included design and contract administration of green infrastructure projects including restoration of 6km's of canal towpath, woodland management works, signage/ street furniture design and sculptures.

Greater access for people to connect with their local environment has been promoted by improving previous industrial networks across Wigan and Leigh such as the canal towpaths to provide multi-user routes and linkages to different parts of the borough.
During the project a number of street furniture elements were designed specifically for Greenheart including a viewing/ seating platform, bollards, seating etc.
